Stabilizing Foundation Piers and Piles

Foundation piers are a reliable solution for stabilizing and/or lifting settling foundations. These robust steel piers, known as push piers, are driven deep into the ground until they reach stable soil, providing strong support for your home. Ideal for homes experiencing foundation settlement, push piers ensure long-lasting stability and protection, restoring the integrity of your foundation.

Resistance Piers

Resistance piers – specifically hydraulic push piers – are foundation support systems similar to helical piers but without the helix. Steel rods are driven into the ground by a hydraulic jack, which presses firmly against the foundation to provide support and stability.

Considerations

Hydraulic push piers require some friction and a strong upper foundation to work effectively. They are not ideal in areas with expansive soil and high moisture, such as Colorado’s Front Range, where expansive clay can cause the piers to lift. In these conditions, helical piers, which are end-loaded and unaffected by lighter top-layer foundations, are a better option.

Resistance piers need an established foundation capable of handling a concentrated load, typically around one ton per lineal foot. This often means brick and concrete block foundations can not use push piers.
